How we collect, use and protect personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
PsalmTech is a software consultancy based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA we are the responsible party for personal information collected through this website.
What we collect
If you complete the enquiry form, we collect the name, company, email address, phone number and message you give us. We ask for nothing beyond what we need to reply to you sensibly.
Our host and any analytics we run also record standard technical information — IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring site — which we use in aggregate to understand how the site is performing.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a discovery call
- To prepare a proposal or quotation you have asked us for
- To keep records of our correspondence for as long as our business relationship reasonably requires
- To understand which pages are useful, so we can improve the site
We do not sell personal information, and we do not add enquiry contacts to a marketing list without asking you first.
Who else sees it
We use third-party services to run the site and communicate with you. Each processes personal information on our behalf and under their own terms:
- Our web hosting provider
- Web3Forms, which delivers contact-form submissions to us by email
- Mailchimp, where you have subscribed to a mailing list
- Plausible Analytics, which measures site usage without cookies and without identifying individual visitors
- Google Search Console, for search performance measurement
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer under their own data protection commitments.
Client data we handle during projects
Where a project involves us handling personal information belonging to your organisation — a database migration, a reporting build, or training on your own data — that is governed by the confidentiality and data processing terms in our engagement agreement, not by this notice. We work to the principle of taking the minimum data needed, working on anonymised extracts where that is workable, and returning or destroying what we hold at the end of the engagement.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to the relationship and thereafter for as long as we are required to keep business records. You can ask us to delete your details sooner.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have grounds to keep
- Object to us processing your information
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have handled your information improperly
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Our analytics provider measures page views without cookies and without building a profile of you, and nothing on the site stores anything in your browser. If that changes, this notice will say so.
